Managing Quantity Surveyor - Water Infrastructure About the Opportunity Our client is a leading UK infrastructure and engineering business that delivers essential projects across the water, utilities and environmental sectors. Working on major capital programmes, they help maintain, improve and future-proof critical infrastructure while protecting communities and the environment. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead a commercial team delivering complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

The Role As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will lead a team of Quantity Surveyors across a portfolio of major capital projects, typically ranging from £5m to £30m in value . You will be responsible for ensuring robust commercial management, accurate forecasting, procurement strategy, financial reporting and commercial governance, while developing and mentoring the wider commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for an established Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to step into a leadership role, or an existing Managing Quantity Surveyor seeking a new challenge within a growing infrastructure business.

Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of Quantity Surveyors delivering multiple water infrastructure projects. Ensure accurate cost reporting, forecasting and commercial performance management across all projects. Drive achievement of forecast and value delivery targets. Lead procurement activities for high-value subcontract and supplier packages. Implement and maintain robust procurement and commercial tracking processes. Review and improve reporting procedures to maximise commercial efficiency.

Identify commercial risks and opportunities across the project portfolio. Work closely with operational, project and client teams to support successful project delivery. Mentor and develop Assistant Quantity Surveyors, Trainees and Apprentices. Ensure contractual compliance and sound commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle. Requirements Proven experience within a commercial role in construction, utilities, infrastructure or civil engineering. Previous experience leading or mentoring commercial teams.

Strong commercial acumen with demonstrable career progression within the construction environment. Experience managing multiple projects or a portfolio of works. Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline. Professional membership (RICS, CIOB or equivalent), or working towards chartership. Strong understanding of procurement, cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting. Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills. Package Competitive salary.
