Freelance Content Creator

SANKO is a curated marketplace for independent African fashion designers. Every designer is chosen for their craft and their point of view, and every piece is selected by hand. Our job is to give them a global stage and the infrastructure to match.

We’re a small, fast-moving team that cares about getting the details right, from how a piece is photographed to how it arrives at a customer’s door. If you want to help shape a young brand with a clear mission, and your work will be visible from day one, you’ll fit right in.

Role Description

We’re looking for a freelance content creator to run content across our digital channels. This is a remote, freelance engagement. You choose where and when you work, with some overlap with UK hours so we can collaborate and approve content in good time.

It’s content-first. You’ll plan, edit, and publish short-form video and photos, and for Instagram, Facebook, and Tik Tok. The Platform Manager will help with shoots, so you’ll be working from footage you’ve helped plan, with room to shoot simple content yourself. You’ll also write and build email campaigns in Klaviyo, support our Linked In with the occasional post, and manage the content calendar from idea to publishing.

You write and edit your own work, in a voice that is confident, considered, and unmistakably SANKO.

A smaller part of the work is growth. You’ll track what performs, work out why, and share simple, regular updates and recommendations.

You’ll work directly with the Platform Manager, Creative Producer, and the wider team to tell the stories behind the pieces.

Each week: 5 Reels, 4 posts (static or carousel), and 3 emails.

We’ll start with an initial 4-week trial, then continue if it’s working for both sides.

What you’ll bring

• A portfolio of short-form video and photo content you’ve edited, for Instagram, Tik Tok, or similar platforms.
• Confident editing skills (e.g. Cap Cut, Premiere, Lightroom, Canva), plus your own software and equipment.
• Comfort shooting simple content on a phone.
• Strong writing for captions, social copy, and email, edited by you before it goes live.
• Experience with an email platform (Klaviyo ideal, Mailchimp or similar fine).
• Basic analytics skills (Instagram/Tik Tok insights, Klaviyo reports) and curiosity about what performs.
• Self-managed, reliable, and good at communicating without being chased.
