This is an exciting opportunity for a permanent Consultant Gynae Oncologist to join a team of 30 Consultants that provide care within the Directorate of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The post-holder will be required to provide the full range of surgical Gynaecological Oncology cover including colposcopy, diagnostics and major surgical procedures including robotic surgery for patients on a cancer pathway, working in collaboration with existing consultants and within the multi‑disciplinary team.
This post is based at University Hospital of North Midlands. Clinical duties will be across both the Royal Stoke and County Hospital Sites. The post holder will have a total of 10.197 PAs per week. The post holder will participate in a 1:12 on call weekday and weekend rota.
The post holder will provide continuing responsibility for patients in their charge and will work within a team‑based structure to support care across both hospital sites. He / She will be a member of the relevant divisional, trust and regional committees and will also be expected to participate in the immediate management functions and strategic planning of the Division and Trusts on both sites.

This post is an interim post with the potential of becoming a substantive post.

Qualifications- Full GMC Registration
- CCT or equivalent
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry via CCT within 6 months of date of the AAC
- BSCCP Accreditation
- Completed RCOG Sub‑speciality training in Gynaecological Oncology or equivalent
- Other higher degree or diploma (e.g., MD, PhD, FRCS)
- Proficiency in all aspects of laparoscopic surgery relevant to gynaecological oncology. Should be able to perform laparoscopic Wertheim's operation
- Experience in radical and supra‑radical surgery for ovarian cancer, including upper abdominal peritoneal stripping
- Evidence to allow accreditation as a Consultant Clinical Supervisor for trainee doctors with the GMC
- Experience in sentinel node sampling in vulval and endometrial cancer
- Robotic proctor/Trainer with certification
- Proficiency in performing robotic procedures, including simple and radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy
- Ability to work effectively with colleagues and within a team.
- Attendance at MDT meetings
- Evidence of team leadership
- Experience in research including recruitment to clinical trials
- Willing to participate in audit programmes
- Evidence of continuing research
- Ability to work under pressure, and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work flexibly
- Ability and means to meet the travel requirements of the post
- Residence within 20 miles of base (return to base within 30 minutes if required) To be accessible by telephone for on call duties
