we are seeking an experienced and passionate clinical lead to join the digital urgent and emergency care project, part of the wider electronic observations (eobs) and patient flow digital transformation programme. This programme will introduce an integrated, real-time digital platform to support clinical decision‑making, patient safety, and flow across urgent and emergency care. This is a unique opportunity for an ed clinician to shape digital systems at the frontline, ensuring they reflect real clinical workflows and improve quality, safety and patient outcomes.
the digital urgent and emergency care clinical lead will provide strategic and clinical leadership at a health board level, acting as the link between clinical teams and digital transformation. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to define clinical requirements, support system design, testing and adoption, and ensure alignment with national and local urgent and emergency care data standards (including wecds).
The role requires flexibility, strong collaboration and the ability to work within a dynamic programme environment, contributing to delivery milestones and supporting continuous improvement across urgent and emergency care services.
- the post holder will represent urgent and emergency care medical colleagues, ensuring the system is designed to meet collective clinical needs. They will champion the solution, working flexibly and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, and actively contribute to clinical working and steering groups.
- acting as the voice of urgent and emergency care clinicians, they will ensure patient safety, quality standards and emergency & urgent care dataset requirements (e.g. Wecds) are embedded. They will work with stakeholders to define workflows, translate these into system requirements, and shape system design, usability and functionality in line with best clinical practice.
- the role includes providing clinical input into system configuration, leading clinical testing, validating data integrity, and ensuring compliance with clinical governance and safety standards. They will support training, promote engagement and drive adoption across clinical teams, fostering interest in digital healthcare and service improvement.
- the post holder will support change management, address concerns, promote benefits and identify and mitigate clinical risks. They will work to agreed deadlines and contribute to delivery milestones. Post‑implementation, they will monitor performance and recommend improvements to enhance quality, safety and patient flow.
