Tempest is proud to be working on behalf of a specialist SEND school in Cheadle, Stockport, seeking a committed, compassionate, and proactive Special Needs Teaching Assistant / Support Worker to join their dedicated team. This is a rewarding role supporting young people with a wide range of additional needs in both educational and residential settings.

About the Role

You will be supporting children and young people with complex needs, many of whom also live within the school's residential provision. Students may present challenging and sometimes physical behaviours as a result of their needs, so resilience, patience, and a calm, confident approach are essential.

You will work alongside teachers, support staff, and therapy teams to create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment-while also being comfortable working independently when needed.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

Experience working with young people or adults with additional needs

A Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service

Excellent verbal communication skills

The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently

A proactive, caring, and adaptable approach

Preferred but not essential:

Experience with personal care
