Rate of Pay: GBP
28 per hour + GBP
3.38 accrued holiday pay
Contract:
Part-time, with flexible hours
Start Date:
September 2026 (for the 2026/2027 Academic Year)
- As a Specialist 1:to:1 Study Skills Support Worker, you will provide learning support and academic guidance.
- Create an individual learning plan tailored to the student’s needs and encourage them to become an independent learner.
- Assist students with the following:
- Develop independence
- Build on strengths and learning strategies
- Create strategies around organisation and time management
- Create action plans to stay on track with studies
- Build on research skills by widening knowledge through a variety of sources
- Distinguish appropriate sources and how to correctly use references
- Build comprehension skills within reading and writing
As this is a specialist role, you must have the correct qualifications and training. All students you will be supporting are funded by the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA), so you must adhere to the qualification framework set out by the DfE.
- Candidates must be qualified to undergraduate degree level (level 6 minimum)
- Have a teaching qualification
- Have taken extensive training in adult autism
- The Extensive Training May Include
- 6 National Autistic Society Modules (non-medical helper package)
OR
- The Optimum Training Course:
Autism and ADHD in Higher Education — Recognising and addressing the barriers through Non-Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies.

Desirable Skills- Experience of working with autistic clients
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Punctuality and reliability
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to manage a caseload of students
- Flexible working hours — you can select your own schedule

28 per hour plus accrued holiday pay per hour - Access to an online timesheet system — quicker turnaround on student approvals
