About the Opportunity

Astro Education are working in partnership with lots of welcoming and inclusive primary schools across Newcastle and Stoke-on-Trent to recruit SEN Teaching Assistants to join their teams immediately.

These are ongoing, flexible, part-time or full-time positions, starting immediately, supporting children with additional needs within mainstream school settings.

Our partner schools are committed to inclusive education, providing structured, nurturing environments where every child is supported to thrive. They are looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with SEN, including Autism, SEMH and developmental needs.

These roles would suit experienced Teaching Assistants, SEN practitioners or individuals with relevant transferable experience.

The Role

* Working as part of a school team, responsibilities may include:

* Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or in small groups

* Assisting children with Autism, SEMH, speech & language or developmental needs

* Helping to implement individual support plans and strategies

* Supporting emotional regulation, routines and transitions

* Creating a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment

* Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals

* Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for individuals who are:

* Experienced in supporting children with SEN (in schools or similar settings)

* Patient, resilient and nurturing in their approach

* Confident managing behaviour and supporting emotional needs

* Able to build positive relationships with children and staff

* Flexible, proactive and a strong team player

* Experience with Autism, SEMH or Early Years SEN would be highly desirable.
