About Manor Abbey School

Manor Abbey School is a provision for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties. The new school opened in Abbey Hulton, Stoke on Trent, in September 2024 with an initial intake of 30 pupils in Years 7 and 8, and will gradually fill to its capacity of 70 places over four years.

We are looking for an inspiring and imaginative class teacher with a subject specialism who can adapt their style of teaching to make learning fun, practical and creative. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to meet the needs of secondary‑aged children who have had difficulty accessing mainstream education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain high expectations of academic achievement.
  • Motivate and engage young people with a successful track record.
  • Plan, sequence, innovate and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Provide clear direction and support for teaching assistants.
  • Apply trauma‑informed practices and promote positive mental health.
  • Understand and manage challenging behaviour.
  • Lead a subject allocated by Senior Leadership.

The successful candidate will be appointed subject to an Enhanced DBS check, pre‑employment checks including right to work, confirmation of appropriate qualifications and professional references.
