Milk Education is working in partnership with a specialist SEMH school in Stoke-on-Trent that is looking to appoint a passionate and resilient SEMH Teacher on a permanent basis.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a qualified teacher who is committed to supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEMH needs.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment where pupils can thrive.
- Build positive relationships with pupils and use a trauma-informed approach to support engagement.
- Manage and support challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
- Monitor, assess, and track pupil progress in line with EHCP targets and school expectations.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral teams, therapists, and external agencies.
- Support pupils' emotional wellbeing, social development, and personal growth.
- Encourage resilience, independence, and positive attitudes towards learning.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or within a specialist SEN setting.
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet a range of learning and emotional needs.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
