Contract: Full-time, temporary until Christmas (with potential extension and permanent opportunity)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, term time only

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Stoke-on-Trent from September. This is a full-time position supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, with an initial contract running until Christmas. There is the opportunity for the role to be extended and potentially become permanent for the right candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including ASD, SEMH and complex learning needs
  • Support pupils’
    academic, social and emotional development in line with their individual education plans (EHCPs)
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, adapted lessons tailored to meet diverse learning needs
  • Promote positive behaviour using consistent and supportive strategies
  • Help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
  • Support with personal care where required (training provided if necessary)
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to support pupil progress
Qualifications and Experience
  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN or school setting
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Ability to remain calm and adaptable in a dynamic environment

Additional Information

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
