An opportunity has arisen in the Institute of Policing and Justice at the University of Staffordshire for a temporary part‑time Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Policing. We seek individuals passionate about policing and capable of inspiring our students. Desired expertise includes policing specialisms such as roads policing, community policing and professional standards, as well as academic study skills and social science research methods.
You will join a collegiate team delivering an exciting, vocationally led and research‑informed undergraduate curriculum, including our BSc (Hons) Policing and Criminal Investigation and our College of Policing‑licensed BSc (Hons) Professional Policing. Teaching is face‑to‑face for all programmes for students not already employed by the police service.
Applicants should have experience in one or more of the key areas listed above, either from professional practice or an academic perspective, and ideally experience of teaching in higher education, use of VLEs, and student mentoring. Willingness to participate in the full range of the team’s activities, including recruitment and outreach, is required.
Main Responsibilities- Contribute to the development and delivery of high‑quality academic provision across undergraduate programmes in Policing
- Undertake teaching and associated activities across the programmes within the area
- Provide academic and pastoral support for students across a range of levels and/or programmes
- Contribute to curriculum development, enhancement and quality assurance processes across the provision
- Contribute to University‑led and/or School initiatives in line with strategic priorities and business development plans
