Position: Supply Teaching Assistant on-Trent)

Academics is currently looking for experienced Primary Teaching Assistants for short and long‑term opportunities within our partnership schools. Working across Stoke‑on‑Trent and Staffordshire can be diversified, meaning that we work with an assortment of schools that have different requirements to suit.

Please be aware that your daily rate will be dependent upon experience, prior qualifications, training, and the client rate that is currently available.

We are an agency that is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all of our staff to share this commitment. All applicants will be subject to our stringent vetting procedures, which include an enhanced DBS check, full work history, references and an interview.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting the teacher with the delivery of the lesson.
  • Preparing the classroom for lessons, such as setting up equipment.
  • Managing behaviour and engaging learners with their own learning.
  • Working with learners either 1‑2‑1 or in small groups.
  • Committed to supporting both the teacher and the learners to succeed.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Have previous experience of working with children in a primary school or educational setting in the UK.
  • Hold confident communication skills and will be an excellent motivator in the classroom.
  • Have strong behaviour management skills with the ability to support learners in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
  • Be happy to travel and to be able to get to our partnership schools in Stoke‑on‑Trent by 8.30 a.m. with sometimes only 30‑60 minute’s notice for our on‑the‑day supply requirements.
  • Have a good level of literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths Grade 4 or Grade C and above / Functional Skills Level 2 in the minimum required).
  • Be familiar with the UK National Curriculum.
  • Own a current Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service, or be prepared to apply for a new DBS with us (cost applied).
