Are you a passionate pastoral leader ready to make a difference in young people’s lives? Thistley Hough Academy is seeking a dedicated Head of Year (Non-Teaching) to champion student wellbeing, drive high standards of behaviour and attendance, and lead a year group to success.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Full Time, Term-time only

About you:

Thistley Hough Academy are looking for a Non-Teaching Head of Year, who thrives on building strong relationships, leading with empathy, and creating a positive impact every day. You will bring a strong background in pastoral care, have excellent communication skills, ability to handle complex problems calmly and hold a commitment to fostering a supportive school environment.

Our ideal candidate would have:

  • Strong pastoral experience
    in an educational setting, with a proven ability to support student welfare, behaviour, and attendance.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
    , capable of building positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and external agencies.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding
    , child protection, and the ability to manage complex student needs with professionalism and care.
  • Organised, proactive, and solution-focused
    , with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and lead a year group effectively.
  • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent)in English and Maths, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
