Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding, long-term opportunity in a mainstream secondary school?
We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Stockport from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced TA who is looking to secure a long-term position with the potential to become permanent.
The RoleAs a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support students across the school, helping them to access learning and make positive academic and personal progress.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing classroom and learning support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Working alongside teachers to support the delivery of engaging lessons
- Providing targeted one-to-one and small-group support where required
- Supporting students with their learning, confidence and engagement
- Helping to create a positive, inclusive and well-managed learning environment
- Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
- Supporting students with additional learning needs where appropriate
- Building positive and professional relationships with students and staff
- Contributing to the wider life of the school
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A calm, patient and supportive approach
- The ability to build positive relationships with young people
- Good classroom management skills
- The confidence to support students both independently and as part of a wider team
- A genuine commitment to helping students achieve their potential
- A professional and reliable approach to work
Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs would be advantageous.
