We are currently recruiting for a passionate and committed SEN Teacher to join one of our specialist SEN schools in Stoke-on-Trent from September. This is a full-time position running until the Christmas break in the first instance, with the potential for the role to be extended beyond the initial contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated teacher who is passionate about supporting students with additional needs and is committed to creating engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning experiences for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils.

As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering tailored lessons that meet the diverse needs of learners with a range of special educational needs. You will work closely with support staff, therapists, and parents/carers to ensure each student receives the support they need to achieve their full potential.

The school supports pupils with a variety of needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Communication and Interaction needs
  • Additional complex learning needs
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons for KS3 and KS4 students.
  • Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress in line with individual targets and EHCP outcomes.
  • Create a positive, nurturing, and structured learning environment.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of learners.
  • Manage behaviour effectively through positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and specialist staff.
  • Contribute to annual reviews, reports, and other pupil documentation where required.
  • Promote the social, emotional, and academic development of all students.

The successful applicant will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Have experience teaching KS3 and KS4 students.
  • Have previous experience working within an SEN setting or supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management skills.
  • Be patient, adaptable, and resilient.
  • Have a genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Full-time opportunity starting in September.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
