2nd November to 31st August 2027 (in the first instance) 37 Hours, 39 Weeks (term time only) The role is a shift pattern Week one, - 6.30 am - 2.30 pm, Week two, 1.30 pm - 9.30 pm. However, these timings can vary during different times of the year. The Governing Body is seeking to appoint a dedicated, proactive and highly motivated Caretaker to play a key role in the effective day-to-day management of our school site.

The successful candidate will help ensure that our buildings and grounds are safe, secure, well maintained and presented to a high standard. We are looking for an individual who is practical, dependable and able to use their own initiative, with a strong commitment to health and safety and the wellbeing of our school community. Flexibility is essential for this role.

The successful candidate will be required, on occasions, to provide cover for other members of the site team, which may involve working during the daytime rather than the usual evening hours on Week
2. Working arrangements will also vary during the summer months, when different start and finish times may be required. This may include an earlier start and earlier finish on Week 2, according to the operational needs of the school. We therefore welcome applications from candidates who have a positive and flexible approach to working hours, work well both independently and as part of a team, and demonstrate the skills and personal qualities that will complement our school culture.

• Opening and securing the school premises, including responsibility for keys and alarm systems.
• Carrying out daily checks of the school buildings and grounds.
• Undertaking minor repairs and general maintenance.
• Identifying and reporting defects and arranging repairs where appropriate.
• Ensuring the site is safe and appropriately maintained.
• Supporting compliance with health and safety, fire safety and site security procedures.
• Completing routine checks and maintaining appropriate records.
• Monitoring heating, lighting and other building systems.
• Supporting contractors working on the school site.
• Carrying out or arranging basic grounds maintenance.
• Responding appropriately to emergencies, including leaks, power failures, security issues and adverse weather.
• Supporting the safe movement of furniture, equipment and deliveries.
• Preparing rooms and facilities for meetings, events and school activities.
• Ensuring appropriate standards of cleanliness around the site and liaising with cleaning staff where applicable.
• Supporting the school with lettings and out-of-hours activities where required.
• Undertaking appropriate training relevant to the role.
