Lecturer in Economics within the York Business School at York St John University, teaching on the undergraduate Economics provision. Most of the work is teaching through lectures, small-group seminars and tutorials, alongside assessment and pastoral and academic support for students. Research is part of the role, with support offered to build a profile in Economics or Finance. Applicants need a doctoral qualification in Economics or a closely related quantitative field, and visa sponsorship is available subject to UKVI requirements.
Whatthe job involves
- Teach undergraduate Economics through lectures, small-group seminars and tutorials
- Manage assessment, marking to university standards and giving timely feedback
- Provide pastoral and academic support to students
- Support student retention, progression and academic success
- Coordinate modules
- Develop a research profile in Economics or Finance, with support
- PhD in Economics or a closely related quantitative field
- Proven experience delivering undergraduate Economics modules
- Track record of driving positive student outcomes
- Experience managing assessment cycles, marking and feedback
- Deep subject expertise in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Delivering an outstanding student experience for a diverse student body
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Commitment to student-centred pedagogy
- Excellent interpersonal skills and team collaboration
- Fellowship of the HEA or a similar teaching qualification
- Experience using virtual learning environments
- Experience with STATA and SPSS
- Interest in or background in Finance
