Shift Plant Operator
Altera Recruitment Group is supporting a specialist Energy from Waste operator in the recruitment of a Shift Plant Operator for its advanced thermal treatment facility in Stoke-on-Trent.
This position is well suited to an individual with experience in boiler operations or heavy process industries who is looking to build a long term career within the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities of the Shift Plant Operator
* Monitor and operate boilers, turbines and associated plant equipment to maximise performance and steam generation.
* Optimise plant processes using the DCS control system by monitoring temperature, pressure and flow, taking corrective action where required.
* Respond to alarms, faults, plant upsets and emergency situations to maintain safe and reliable operation.
* Operate the overhead waste crane and, when required, carry out plant attendant duties including FLT operations, loading and unloading vehicles and managing raw materials and ash removal.
* Maintain accurate operational records, support housekeeping standards and ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental procedures.
Candidate Requirements
* Previous experience within boiler operations or a heavy industrial process environment.
* GCSE Maths and Science at Grade C / Level 5 or equivalent.
* A reliable and proactive approach with the ability to work effectively within a shift team.
* Experience with DCS systems, process plant or a mechanical, electrical or instrumentation background would be advantageous.
* BOAS, City & Guilds Small Thermal Plant, FLT, COSHH or HAZOP experience would all be beneficial but are not essential.
