Mechanical Project Engineer (972481) Biddulph, England
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum
This is a permanent role based in the East Cheshire area.
Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4.30pm, with potential flexibility to accommodate traffic.
The job is commutable from the following areas:
- Crewe, Middlewich, Holmes Chapel
- Congleton, Macclesfield, Leek
- Northwich, Knutsford, Biddulph
- Newcastle-under-Lyme & North Stoke areas
To be considered for the role, you must have 5‑10+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering within a process‑driven environment, and an understanding of the interactions between moving parts such as process machinery, plant design, bearings, shafts, rotating machinery, seals, etc.
This varied role involves working closely with internal design and manufacturing teams and communicating with the client.
Responsibilities- Obtain and review client specifications, drawings and analyse results from product tests to ensure proposals meet client requirements.
- Prepare proposals, including cost estimation, test reports, plant specifications and design.
- Ensure each proposal meets the customer requirements.
- Collaborate closely with customers and in‑house design/production staff to jointly manage client requirements.
- Prepare material lists (BOM) from drawings and specifications, and input BOM into computer (Excel).
- Manage all project documentation, site surveys and commissioning in the UK.
- Review contracts prior to order acceptance and sign acknowledgements.
- Manage contracts and documentation such as risk assessments, technical construction files, operation and maintenance manuals, etc.
- Ensure design complies with specifications and legislation, including Health & Safety, ATEX, etc.
- Conduct occasional site visits to discuss and update client, approximately 3–6 times a year.
- Bachelor’s degree or similar qualification in mechanical engineering.
- 5–10+ years working in mechanical engineering or a process engineering environment.
- Conversant with food or chemical process equipment and control systems.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of engineering drawings produced on Solid Works.
- Knowledge of mechanical principles and equipment interaction.
