Rapiscan Systems is a world leader in security inspection and detection technology, delivering advanced cargo and vehicle screening solutions used across ports, borders, military facilities and critical infrastructure worldwide. We are seeking a talented Graduate Accelerator Scientist to join our Cargo Research Team and help bring innovative technologies from research and development into commercial security screening applications.

This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate with a background in Physics or Engineering to work on cutting-edge accelerator technologies. You will play a key role in the commissioning, verification and validation of linear accelerators and associated subsystems while supporting the development of next-generation security screening solutions.

• Commission, verify and validate linear accelerators and associated components.
• Analyse system performance and provide technical feedback to research and engineering teams.
• Maintain accurate records of testing activities and support documentation release through Agile processes.
• Contribute to the design, development and continuous improvement of accelerator technologies.
• Support product quality assurance activities and root cause investigations.
• Participate in technical training, demonstrations and knowledge-sharing activities.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions.

• Degree or postgraduate qualification in Physics, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experimental or laboratory-based experience gained through academic projects, placements or research.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools, including Excel and MATLAB.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

• Experience using test equipment such as oscilloscopes and vector network analysers.
• Exposure to product development or research environments.
• Knowledge of high-power RF systems, high-voltage power supplies and beam dynamics.
• Understanding of safe working practices associated with particle accelerators and related systems.
