We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Environmental Advisor to join our team, supporting the delivery of a significant National Grid infrastructure framework across the Southeast of England. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a large-scale programme of work, contributing to the successful delivery of a variety of major infrastructure projects.

Working as part of the SHE (Safety, Health and Environment) team, you will play a key role in providing environmental support across live and upcoming projects, ensuring compliance with environmental requirements and promoting best practice throughout all stages of project delivery.

This role is ideal for an environmental professional looking to further develop their expertise, broaden their project experience, and take on increasing levels of responsibility within a dynamic and growing business.

Role Responsibilities
  • Provide environmental advice and support to project teams across a range of infrastructure schemes.
  • Assist in ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with environmental legislation, regulations, permits, and company standards.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of environmental management plans and associated documentation.
  • Conduct environmental inspections, audits, and site visits, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Work closely with operational teams, subcontractors, clients, and stakeholders to promote environmental best practice.
  • Support environmental incident investigations and assist in identifying preventative measures.
  • Contribute to environmental reporting, monitoring, and data collection activities.
  • Help drive continuous improvement initiatives and environmental performance across projects.
  • Promote sustainability and environmental awareness throughout project delivery.
Skills, Experience And Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in an environmental discipline or a related subject.
  • Membership of, or willingness to work towards membership of, a recognised professional body such as IEMA.
  • Relevant environmental experience within construction, utilities, infrastructure, engineering, or a related sector.
  • Experience providing environmental support on major infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
  • Good understanding of environmental legislation and environmental management systems.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build effective working relationships.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to develop professionally.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

About The Energy Business Unit

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
