Accountant, Financial Reporting, Accounting & Finance

Location: Stoke-on-Trent

My client, a well-established Housing Association, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their finance team on a temporary basis. This fully remote opportunity is ideally suited to a qualified or part-qualified finance professional with previous housing sector experience and a strong background in year-end accounting and audit preparation. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the finance function during a busy period.

A significant part of the role will involve preparing for the external audit process, compiling audit files, responding to auditor queries, and working closely with stakeholders to ensure a smooth and successful audit. Candidates must have a strong track record of preparing accounts and supporting external audits. Excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and advanced Excel skills are essential.

The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders is also required.

Experience with in a Housing Association would be highly advantageous, as would a professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, or ACA, part-qualified candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
