Total salary with Shift and Weekend Working Allowance Added: £33,215 - £37,676
Grade D: £24,747 - £28,071
Shift/Weekend Allowance
: 20% Shift Allowance and 14.22% Weekend Working Allowance. To be added to the above salary.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join Staffordshire Police as a Custody Detention Officer (CDO). Full Driving License Required.
Custody Detention Officers (CDO’s) play a vital role in assisting with the secure detention, care and welfare of detained persons and their property. They support the safe operations of two operational custody suites:
Northern Area Custody Facility and Watling Street Custody.
- Conduct non-intimate searches, record identity, log possessions, take fingerprints and DNA samples, photograph, complete drug testing on arrest and ensure secure placement in a cell.
- Ensure safety and well-being of detainees until transfer or release; provide bedding, food, support, reassurance.
- Make regular cell checks and maintain sanitary environment.
- Administration of custody IT systems and prepare detainees for court.
- Deliver safe and secure environment for detained persons in variety of criminal matters.
- Communicate effectively, show compassion, empathy, remain calm in volatile situations.
- Treat detainees with dignity, respect, de-escalate; reasonable force may be needed if unavoidable.
- Monitor cameras to ensure safety of high-risk vulnerable people.
- Liaise with solicitors, family members and partners in custody environment.
Initial 4 week training course followed by 3 weeks mentoring; competency portfolio completed.
