Deputy Chief Medical Officer - Quality

The Trust is seeking to appoint a Deputy Medical Director who can demonstrate a commitment to team working and shared responsibility for the achievement of the Trust's aims and objectives. The successful candidate will work as part of the Corporate Medical Leadership team and will contribute to strategic direction and decision making processes with an overriding requirement to act in the corporate interests of the Trust and its patients.
The role involves promoting high standards of clinical care and teamwork through the provision of professional leadership to all medical staff on standards of practice, performance and associated professional matters. Supporting the Chief Medical Officer you will promote evidence based practice and ensure Trust systems and policies are effective. The post will focus on quality, safety, mortality, risks and serious incidents. Experience of multidisciplinary leadership in a senior medical management position is essential. We are seeking a visible leader with an open and transparent leadership style who has extensive experience of service change and positively influencing performance and delivery.
Main duties of the job- Represent the Chief Medical Officer on Clinical Effectiveness, Quality, Mortality and Safety issues, including Serious Incidents and Risk Management.
- Take a lead role in the operational / clinical management of the Trust and to work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Nurse and Divisional Medical Directors to achieve this.
- Work with the Chief Medical Officer and other Deputy Chief Medical Officers to promote high standards of clinical care and team working through the provision of professional leadership to all Medical staff on standards of practice, performance and associated professional matters.
- Work with the Chief Medical Officer to implement local, regional and national policy on medical specialties working closely with the Divisional Medical Directors in these areas.
- Provide advice and support to Directors and Senior Managers and others across the Trust demonstrating a commitment to team working and shared responsibility for the achievement of the Trust's aims and objectives.
- Deputise for the Chief Medical Officer for a range of pre‑determined duties and during periods of absence.
- Be a key member of the Chief Medical Officer team, flexing roles to address new challenges as they emerge, and engaging in developing Trust strategic direction from a clinical perspective.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the Trust's aims and objectives.
