Overview

The staff are involved in all aspects of the breast care pathway providing standard mammography, additional views and stereo biopsy, tomography and contrast enhanced mammography.

Responsibilities
  • Provide standard breast screening at County Hospital and across the North Midlands screening area serviced by a mobile demountable unit and a brand new mobile van.
  • Work in busy 2‑week wait / one‑stop clinics at the Royal Stoke and County Hospitals, providing standard mammography, tomography, additional views, chaperoning ultrasound, and providing biopsy support.
  • Perform contrast enhanced mammography at the Royal Stoke unit and have the opportunity to train in cannulation and gain experience in this new technique.
  • Play a pivotal role in screening assessment clinics at both hospital sites, including training further in clinical breast examination and advanced communication skills.
Qualifications & Experience

Demonstrable experience as a qualified Radiographer is essential for this role. Training is paid at band 5; other options may be considered for the right candidate with extensive band 6 experience.

The team currently includes a Consultant Radiographer, 2 training Consultant Radiographers, 3 clinical specialists who have all 3 modules of advanced practice and 11 advanced practitioners. There is an exceptional in‑house training package, which includes a personal mentor and will support the successful applicant ensuring maximum exposure to learning opportunities and experiences.
