Location and hours: Flexible hours / sessions available, 7 days a week between 8:30 am – 8:pm (Royal Stoke / County Stafford / Haywood Community Hospital)
Role OverviewWe are looking to recruit a highly motivated, dynamic and professional individual to join our well‑established team of bank advanced practitioner sonographers. The successful candidate will hold a case‑accredited PgC, PgD or MSc in non‑obstetric ultrasound and will have a broad range of experience of working independently within the NHS.
Skill mix offered:
- General Medical: upper abdominal / KUB
- Small Parts: testes / head and neck
- Gynecology
- Vascular
- Lower limb vein scanning for DVT / carotid scanning
The ultrasound department provides both obstetric and general medical scanning services, managed and supported from the Royal Stoke but operating across both sites and multiple community units.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing routine antenatal screening and supporting the early pregnancy and fetal assessment units, as well as specialist antenatal and gynaecological clinics.
- Delivering out‑patient general ultrasound services and supporting acute in‑patient departments and sub‑speciality services such as vascular, paediatric and MSK.
- Providing inclusive, high‑quality service on a 7‑day schedule, including bank holidays, on a rotational basis.
- Acting as a trainer and developing other sonographers as part of the bank staff.
Autonomous practitioner capable of scanning and reporting a range of diagnostic ultrasound scans in line with national, trust and department protocols.
This is a training role; required skills include:
- Independent scan and report of relevant field
- Evidence of CPD
- Driving licence

- Case accredited post‑graduate ultrasound qualification
- HCPC or equivalent registration

Salary: £49,387 to £56,515 per annum, pro rata.
