Job Title: Driver Support Worker
Starting Salary: £25,185 (£13.05 an hour) progressing to £25,583 (£13.26 an hour) per annum (pro rata for part time)

Your role is key to supporting independence, wellbeing, and community inclusion—making every journey truly worthwhile.
AboutThe Role
- Hold a valid UK Driving Licence with Category D1 entitlement (typically present on licences issued before 1997 or obtained via an additional driving test). Ensure vehicles are roadworthy by conducting daily and weekly checks.
- Support individuals with and without mobility equipment in and out of vehicles, using tail‑lifts and ramps where necessary.
- Provide personal care including bathroom support, mobility aids, and dietary needs (training provided). This includes the use of moving and handling equipment; you must be physically capable of performing these tasks safely and effectively.
- Participate in activities with the people we support, both on and off site.
- Perform manual handling tasks, including bending, crouching, and kneeling.
We have vacancies in the following locations:
- Baldock Day Centre – 37 hours
- Ware Road Day Service (Hertford) – 25 hours per week (Split Shift Monday to Friday, 08:30‑11:30 and 14:15‑16:15)
- A valid UK Driving Licence with Category D1 entitlement.
- Previous experience driving larger vehicles and working as part of a team.
- A person‑centred approach to care, with a commitment to equity, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Physically able to meet the demands of the role.

Driving
Required:
Ability to drive and/or travel around Hertfordshire, either using your own mode of transport or a company car.
English Fluency: Ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
