About the Role

The Honeycomb Group is a team of socially minded brands working to create happy homes across Staffordshire by helping people feel secure, connected, and confident. Through the Helping Hand Service (HHS), part of Revival, volunteers provide practical support to vulnerable individuals, including older adults and those with mobility issues or disabilities, who may struggle with everyday tasks at home.

What You'll Do

As a Helping Hand Volunteer, you can support in a way that suits your skills and availability. Tasks may include garden tidy‑ups such as weeding, planting, and leaf clearing; light electrical tasks like changing light bulbs; plumbing tasks such as unclogging sinks; basic technology support like setting up Wi‑Fi or smart devices; or helping with shopping for food and essential items.

Volunteers may choose to focus on one area or support across several.

Skills and Attributes

We are looking for friendly, respectful, and patient individuals with good communication skills and a willingness to help others. Basic DIY or practical skills are helpful, as is the ability to listen and engage in a non‑judgemental way. Volunteers should be reliable, empathetic, and understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable or isolated individuals. You must be aged 18 or over and able to carry out light physical tasks safely.

Benefits

to You

This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference by helping people live safely and independently in their homes. You will gain new skills, meet new people, and become part of a supportive and friendly team. The experience can support personal development or future employment opportunities, while allowing you to contribute to your local community.

Training and Expenses

You will receive a full induction and role‑specific training, including safeguarding and confidentiality. Ongoing support and supervision will be provided by the Volunteer Officer, along with access to further development opportunities. Travel expenses will be covered.

Requirements

The role requires reference checks, a DBS check, and the ability to carry out light physical tasks. Volunteers should be able to commit to regular visits and work within agreed guidance and boundaries.
