The University Hospital of North Midlands, Mid Cheshire and East Cheshire NHS Trusts work in partnership following the formation of the Pathology Network North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Service (NMCPS).

We are seeking applications from enthusiastic, highly motivated and confident individuals to join our Phlebotomy team as a Deputy Phlebotomy Manager. Two positions are available.

The successful applicant would be expected to support the Phlebotomy Manager in the delivery of the Phlebotomy service at Royal Stoke Hospital and provide cover across NMCPS sites when required.

Collection of quality blood samples from patients is a vital stage in many medical investigations.

• Day‑to‑day management of the phlebotomy team at Royal Stoke Hospital.
• Deputise for the Phlebotomy Manager and support phlebotomy supervisors.
• Ensure standardised best practices are delivered at all locations.
• Experience in all phlebotomy techniques is essential; previous supervisory experience would be an advantage.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail and basic keyboard skills.
• Strong IT skills, including data entry and use of Microsoft Office applications.
• Use personal vehicle to travel to community locations with reimbursement for travel expenses.
• Full‑time position: 37.5 hours per week.

• 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths at grade C or above.
• Trained phlebotomist.
• OCR equivalent in working with Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook (or equivalent software).
• NVQ II in Customer Care.

• Demonstrable experience of staff supervision.
• Highly competent in phlebotomy techniques.
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, able to work to deadlines.
• Excellent team working skills, including assisting and covering the work of other team members.
• Ability to collate information and demonstrate effective systems for accurate recording both manually and electronically.
• Knowledge of the NHS.

• Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
• Well‑developed interpersonal skills.
• Establish rapport and credibility with individuals of all disciplines and all levels, internally and externally.
• Flexible in approach to service needs.
• Private transport, insured for class 1 business use, to travel to community phlebotomy clinics.

Salary: £28,392 to £31,157 per annum, pro rata.
