- You will handle a highly specialist caseload independently, taking full personal, professional, and legal responsibility while accessing supervision and support when required.
- Conduct thorough communication and swallowing assessments using a variety of formal and informal tools,including perceptual analysis and in‑depth language assessment, supporting accurate clinical decisions and contributing to differential diagnosis and prognosis.
- Engage with residents, families, and carers to provide clear and compassionate explanations regarding complex communication, voice, and swallowing needs.
- Actively participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, offering specialist Speech and Language Therapy input to enhance care planning.
- Manage swallowing programmes, collaborating effectively with nursing teams, kitchen staff, and visiting dietitians to ensure safe swallowing practices and proper nutritional intake.
- Assess the need for communication aids and provide guidance to residents and carers on their safe and effective use.
- HCPC registration
- Proven experience managing a dysphagia caseload
- Experience working collaboratively with families
- A strong record of continuing professional development to stay updated with the latest practices and techniques
