Job Description
As a Data Governance Specialist, you will work within the Data & BI Team with responsibility for ensuring data-related changes across the organisation are designed, implemented, and governed effectively. This is a period of tech transformation for Together.
You will provide technical stewardship over core applications, databases, and metadata, ensuring data is well-defined, structured, and aligned with governance standards. You will enable data quality, literacy, and accountability across business and technology teams. This role is suitable for a data modeller or data architect moving into a broader, business-facing data governance function.
You will combine hands-on data modelling experience with strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, and you will participate in projects as the business moves to new systems and ways of working.
Responsibilities- Provide governance for data-related changes across the organisation, aligned with governance standards.
- Maintain data definitions, metadata, and data quality across core applications and databases.
- Act as a conduit between business and technical teams, translating requirements to data engineers and other stakeholders.
- Engage with projects to support transitions to new systems and ways of working.
- Apply data modelling experience to support data governance initiatives.
- Experience in data architecture and data modelling is highly advantageous.
- Strong experience in data stewardship, data governance, or data architecture roles.
- Proficient in relational database design, SQL, metadata management.
- Experience with data governance tools and techniques; familiarity with Unity Catalogue is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders; ability to translate technical concepts to business language.
- Knowledge of the DAMA Data Management body of knowledge and data quality concepts; data profiling and catalog management experience is desirable.
- Discretionary annual bonus (up to 20%) plus a Shared Reward Bonus
- Base salary ranges £45,000 – £60,000
- Based in Cheadle, South Manchester (5 days in the office)
