IT Project Manager - £600 per day - Inside IR35 - Remote, occasional office attendance in Durham, Edinburgh or London.

We are working with a large-scale renewable energy organisation and one of the most technologically diverse renewable energy businesses operating across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The organisation specialises in the development and operation of wind, solar and battery storage technologies and is continuing to invest in technology to support its growing and evolving business.

As a result, we are looking for an experienced IT Project Manager to lead the delivery of a range of IT and software-enabled projects. This is an opportunity to work within a complex and technology-driven organisation, delivering projects that support a diverse portfolio of renewable energy assets and business operations.

The Role -

As IT Project Manager, you will lead projects through a structured governance and gated delivery lifecycle, ensuring solutions are delivered to agreed scope, schedule, budget and quality standards.

This role does not require a highly technical or hands‑on technical background. Instead, we are looking for a strong Project Manager who can coordinate technical specialists, manage stakeholders and suppliers, maintain effective project controls and drive successful delivery.

You will work closely with teams across Business Analysis, Architecture, Development, Cyber Security, Testing and Service Management, ensuring that all activities are effectively coordinated throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities -
  • Lead IT and software-enabled projects in accordance with the organisation’s governance framework and gated delivery process.
  • Manage the full project lifecycle, from initiation and requirements gathering through solution design, development, testing, deployment and transition into support.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary delivery teams, including Business Analysts, Architects, Developers, Cyber Security, Testing and Service Management.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules and milestones using Microsoft Project.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, commitments and financial variances.
  • Maintain effective project controls across risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, decisions, actions and change requests.
  • Manage relationships with third-party suppliers and technology vendors, including SaaS and externally provided technology solutions.
  • Ensure stakeholders are appropriately engaged and informed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide clear and concise project reporting to sponsors, senior stakeholders and governance forums.
  • Identify and manage delivery risks, dependencies and blockers, taking appropriate action to keep projects on track.
  • Ensure successful handover and transition of delivered solutions into business‑as‑usual support.
About You -

We are looking for an experienced and delivery-focused Project Manager with a background in managing IT, technology or software-enabled projects.

You do not need to be a technical specialist or have a hands‑on technology background. However, you should be comfortable working with technical teams and specialists and have the confidence to coordinate activity, manage dependencies and drive projects through to successful completion.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience delivering IT, technology or software-enabled projects.
  • Experience working within structured project governance and delivery frameworks.
  • Strong project planning, organisation and project controls experience.
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
  • Experience managing third‑party suppliers and technology vendors.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary delivery teams.
  • Experience using Microsoft Project or similar project planning tools.
  • A pragmatic, organised and delivery-focused approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a complex and fast‑paced environment.
Desirable Experience -

Experience delivering projects involving IFS or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems would be highly desirable. Exposure to large-scale enterprise applications, SaaS platforms or business transformation programmes would also be beneficial.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a major organisation at the forefront of the UK’s renewable energy sector. You will play an important role in delivering technology and software projects that support a diverse portfolio of wind, solar and battery storage operations across the UK and Ireland.
