We are now looking for a Loss Assessor/Claims Handler to join us in our Stoke-on-Trent office. While technical experience is important, we also place great value on character, integrity, client care and a willingness to learn. We invest heavily in people, and we offer a clear progression pathway from Loss Assessor through to Senior Loss Assessor, ACILA, and ultimately Major Loss Specialist for those who wish to build a long-term career.
The RoleThis is an excellent opportunity to manage and progress a caseload of low‑medium complexity domestic and small commercial property claims, while growing your expertise in commercial and business interruption (BI) work.
You will play a key frontline role, supporting clients, attending site visits, negotiating with insurers, and helping policyholders rebuild after unexpected loss.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and progress a portfolio of domestic and small commercial property claims
- Conduct site visits
- Gather evidence and communicate findings clearly
- Liaise with insurers, loss adjusters, contractors, and other stakeholders
- Negotiate fair outcomes and advocate for policyholders
- Maintain excellent customer communication and service standards
- Contribute to a supportive and positive team environment
- Empathetic, professional, and client-focused
- Confident communicators with strong interpersonal skills
- Naturally curious, with the ability to investigate and problem-solve
- Comfortable working independently, with support available when needed
- Keen to develop technical knowledge and progress their career
Ideally, you will bring:
- Around 3 years’ experience in property insurance claims, loss assessing, loss adjusting, or a similar discipline
- Understanding of policy coverage, evidence gathering, and reporting
- Confidence with site visits and stakeholder communication
- Early exposure to Commercial and BI claims (desirable, not essential)
