Friday, We have an opportunity for a Caretaker to join our team in Stoke On Trent, to provide an effective estate maintenance service that meets customer and organisational needs. You will be joining a large Team of Caretakers within a Team of Multi Trade Operatives. The Job role consists of travel to and from Void Properties, final cleans following maintenance team attendance, removing builders' waste, environmental deep cleans prior to works starting, and clearances of furniture.

Fencing repairs, paving installation, wooden gate making and installation, remove fly tipping, gutter cleaning, environmental clean & clears and needle sweeps. This role sits within Property Services, which is responsible for delivering a high quality and cost effective property repairs, compliance and installation and estate services across the UK to mainly internal clients and additionally a small number of external clients.

It is also responsible for operational Health and Safety of the service, including fire safety and delivering effective group wide asset management and reinvestment programmes.

The role of Caretaker will include:
  • Providing an effective estate maintenance service by undertaking caretaking, cleaning, basic repair and grounds maintenance duties
  • Providing accurate and timely information on progress and advice that is easily understood by the customer and ensure accurate daily work records
  • Carrying out risk assessments to identify and report any potential maintenance issues to ensure a safe environment is maintained and to support planned maintenance programmes
  • Ensuring tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and used in line with policies and procedures and relevant regulations, reporting faults, hazards and inappropriate practice promptly, to ensure a safe living and working environment
  • Ensuring all supplies and stocks are ordered, maintained and stored appropriately in line with regulation and organisational procedures
  • Maintaining relationships with internal and external customers, providing accurate and timely information on progress and respond positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery to meet customer expectations, and elevate complaints as appropriate
  • Providing regular reports for Senior Managers regarding health and safety issues and buildings maintenance Skills and experiences
Qualifications & Experience
  • Able to demonstrate a competent level of numeracy and literacy
  • Experience in erecting fencing, making gates, laying paving, block paving, installing drains
  • Experience in a similar role or completing similar tasks
  • Practical experience of carrying out risk assessments
  • Knowledge of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) guidelines
  • Basic communication skills for reading written instructions and updating records
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
