Newcastle-under-Lyme | Permanent Position | 4-Day Working Week
Contek Recruitment are currently representing a well-established precision engineering manufacturer based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, who are looking to recruit an experienced CNC Turner Programmer / Setter / Operator to join their busy and growing Turning Department.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist to join a successful and expanding business that specialises in the manufacture of high-precision components for a variety of demanding industries. The RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC turning machines to produce high-quality precision components in line with customer specifications and engineering drawings. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities- Programming, setting and operating CNC turning machines – Fanuc controls (or similar G-code systems)
- Manufacturing precision components to tight tolerances
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Selecting appropriate tooling and machining strategies
- Performing first‑off inspections and in‑process quality checks
- Making tooling and offset adjustments as required
- Ensuring components meet quality and production requirements
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
- Supporting continuous improvement activities within the department
- Working closely with colleagues across production and quality teams
- Proven experience as a CNC Turner Programmer / Setter / Operator with Fanuc control knowledge
- Strong knowledge of CNC turning processes and machining techniques
- Experience programming and setting CNC lathes independently
- Ability to work from engineering drawings with minimal supervision
- Experience producing precision components to tight tolerances
- Good understanding of cutting tools, materials and machining parameters
- Strong attention to detail and quality‑focused approach
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and a proactive attitude
- Experience with in a precision engineering or subcontract machining environment would be advantageous
- Monday to Thursday
- 37 basic contracted hours per week
- Enjoy a genuine three‑day weekend every week
