Newcastle-under-Lyme | Permanent Position | 4-Day Working Week

Contek Recruitment are currently representing a well-established precision engineering manufacturer based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, who are looking to recruit an experienced CNC Turner Programmer / Setter / Operator to join their busy and growing Turning Department.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist to join a successful and expanding business that specialises in the manufacture of high-precision components for a variety of demanding industries. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC turning machines to produce high-quality precision components in line with customer specifications and engineering drawings. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest manufacturing standards.

• Programming, setting and operating CNC turning machines – Fanuc controls (or similar G-code systems)
• Manufacturing precision components to tight tolerances
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Selecting appropriate tooling and machining strategies
• Performing first‑off inspections and in‑process quality checks
• Making tooling and offset adjustments as required
• Ensuring components meet quality and production requirements
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
• Supporting continuous improvement activities within the department
• Working closely with colleagues across production and quality teams

• Proven experience as a CNC Turner Programmer / Setter / Operator with Fanuc control knowledge
• Strong knowledge of CNC turning processes and machining techniques
• Experience programming and setting CNC lathes independently
• Ability to work from engineering drawings with minimal supervision
• Experience producing precision components to tight tolerances
• Good understanding of cutting tools, materials and machining parameters
• Strong attention to detail and quality‑focused approach
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a proactive attitude
• Experience with in a precision engineering or subcontract machining environment would be advantageous

• 37 basic contracted hours per week
