Grenville Engineering (Stoke-on-Trent) Ltd is looking for an experienced Fabricator Welder to join the night shift at our busy manufacturing facility in Stoke-on-Trent.

We are a well-established sheet metal fabrication company with nearly 40 years of trading history and a proven record of providing secure, long-term employment.

This is a permanent night-shift position working Monday to Thursday, giving you every Friday, Saturday and Sunday off.

You will be paid for 46 hours per week after the deduction of a 30-minute unpaid break during each shift.

The night-shift working pattern has remained unchanged for the last five years. However, working hours may be subject to change depending on future business requirements.

The pay structure for this position is:

  • First 32 hours per week at £18.67 per hour, equivalent to time plus one-third

  • The standard day rate for this position is £14.00 per hour.
  • New starters will complete approximately one month of training on the day shift before moving onto the night shift. This training period will be paid at the standard day rate.
The Role

As a Fabricator Welder at Grenville Engineering, you will complete bespoke fabrication work from start to finish.

The role will also involve carrying out volume jig work for sustained periods when required. You should therefore be comfortable moving between varied bespoke projects and longer production runs.

You will be expected to work accurately from engineering drawings, maintain the required quality standards and complete work within agreed deadlines and production targets.

This position is subject to a 6-month probationary period.

To be considered for this position, you will need:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience MIG welding mild steel up to 12mm thick
  • The ability to read and work accurately from engineering drawings
  • Accurate measuring skills and the ability to work to specified tolerances
  • The ability to complete fabrication work from start to finish
  • The ability to work to deadlines and production targets
  • Competence using hand tools and air tools
  • The ability to keep accurate and tidy production paperwork
  • A flexible approach to other production duties when required, including grinding, shearing and machining
  • A commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work

TIG welding experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential for this position.

Practical Weld Test

All successful candidates must complete a practical weld test before starting employment.

The weld test will take place either on the day of the interview or at a pre‑arranged date and time.

  • Four-day working week with a three-day weekend every week
  • Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday off
  • Strong night‑shift earnings
  • Discretionary end‑of‑year bonuses, with significant bonuses paid in recent years
  • Annual pay increases for the last five consecutive years
  • Free night‑worker health assessment
  • Holiday entitlement increases to 25 days plus bank holidays after 12 months
