Job Description & How to Apply Below
This two-year temporary Ministry of Justice post sits in the Office of the Victims' Commissioner for England and Wales, supporting a new panel of adult survivors of child sexual abuse and exploitation. The postholder leads the panel's wider survivor network, building trusted links with forums, community groups and sector partners so their insight reaches cross-government policy. The work is trauma-informed and survivor-centred, and the role is full-time, with compressed hours possible and a hybrid model.
Candidates must remain civil servants until they accept an offer.
- Lead the development and coordination of the Panel's wider victim and survivor network
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with survivor forums, community groups and sector partners, including understanding their schedules and capacity
- Coordinate wider network engagement in line with the Panel's approach, keeping it trauma-informed and aligned with the forward pipeline
- Lead regular communication with network leads and facilitation teams, including invitations, updates and briefing materials
- Advise the Commissioner's office, officials and ministers on trauma-informed practice, sensitive language and boundaries before survivor engagement
- Manage feedback loops so participants know how their input was used and where it has informed policy or practice
- Ensure engagement captures insight safely, with recording and anonymisation, and feeds themes into the Panel's workplan and policy teams
- Work with the Survivor Participation Manager to draw together network and Panel insight and identify alignment, difference or emerging concern
- Set up ethical processes for engagement and keep accurate records of contacts, planned activity, risks, actions and follow-up
- Support escalation and decision‑making between the Panel, forums and government stakeholders
- Provide policy, engagement and briefing support, support Panel communications and triage enquiries to the Panel's inbox
- Maintain an engagement log, identify gaps and themes, and contribute to the Panel's annual impact and learning report
- Experience working with victim and survivor forums, lived experience panels, advisory groups, community networks or third sector organisations
- Experience coordinating or supporting participation activity across multiple partners, including materials, schedules, sessions and follow‑up
- Experience of trauma‑informed, survivor‑centred engagement
- Knowledge of child sexual abuse and exploitation and its impact on victims and survivors
- Strong relationship‑building and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to gather, record and summarise insight ethically and anonymously
- Strong written and verbal communication, including clear, sensitive and accessible communications
- Strong organisational skills, including maintaining logs, tracking actions and supporting feedback loops
- Good judgement and confidence escalating risks and upholding boundaries
- Still employed as a civil servant when accepting an offer
- Experience supporting engagement with underrepresented communities or groups whose voices are less often heard
- Experience working in or with government, statutory bodies, commissioners, public services or policy teams
- Experience contributing to impact reports, learning summaries, engagement logs, thematic analysis or evaluation
- Annual leave of 25 days rising to 30 after five years, plus public holidays and one privilege day
- Option to buy or sell up to three days' leave each year
- Choice of Civil Service pension schemes
- Training and development opportunities
- Employee‑run networks
- Family‑friendly policies, including reduced hours or job share, and paid paternity, adoption and maternity leave
- Flexible benefits, voluntary benefits, retail vouchers and discounts
- Free annual sight tests for employees who use computer screens
