More about the role

Our Managers are key to keeping our stores running smoothly, safely, and efficiently every day. Deputising for the Store Manager, you’ll lead from the front to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where every colleague feels valued, supported, and ready to succeed.

You’ll bring a proactive approach, taking ownership of store operations, driving high standards, and coaching department managers to build a confident, high-performing team.

In this role, you’ll be on hand to:
  • Lead and empower the team: Build management capability across the store, mentoring talent and supporting department heads with clear plans to help them grow.

  • Keep standards high, safe, and legal: Act as the store's expert on safe and legal standards, ensuring food safety laws, hygiene, and daily routines are delivered properly every shift.

  • Drive sales and availability: Use your commercial mindset to review store data, spot opportunities, and manage resources so our shelves are always well-stocked for our customers.

  • Listen and improve: Work to support teams through change, listening directly to customer feedback and acting on it to keep making our daily service better.

We value your hard work and commitment, and in return, we provide:

  • Generous holiday entitlement

  • Discretionary bonus scheme

  • 15% discount in our supermarkets and convenience stores from the day you join us

  • Additional 10% discount card for a friend or family member

  • Subsidised in-store cafe or shop floor ranges

  • Free parking

  • Competitive pension and life assurance

  • Healthcare / Wellbeing benefits including Aviva Digital GP

  • 'MyPerks' with discounts at high street shops, cinemas and gyms, and lots more

  • Optional payroll charity donations

  • A range of family-friendly policies including 26 weeks maternity and adoption leave along with neonatal and fertility leave

More about you

Ideally you’ll have proven experience in the retail industry, with a track record of successfully managing a large, fast-paced store operation turning over at least £150k a week.

You’ll be the kind of person who:
  • Leads with empathy and active listening, taking time to understand different perspectives and bringing out the best in your team.

  • Enjoys coaching and developing people, giving constructive feedback that builds confidence and consistency across all departments.

  • Spotlights talent and loves creating a supportive, high-performing store culture where people feel trusted to succeed.

  • Handles challenges calmly and builds real trust across the whole store team.

  • Sets clear, meaningful goals for each department that tie directly into our store priorities, keeping everyone aligned and moving forward together.

  • Brings a collaborative mindset, working closely with colleagues across the business to try new ideas and make things better every shift
