Postal Delivery Driver

Location: Cheadle St Delivery Office, ST10 1AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + overtime available.

Working hours: 30 hours per week – 6 days Monday to Sunday for 4 weeks then the 5th week off. Hours 08:00 to 14:45.

• Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office
• Deliver post by van and on foot in your local area

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time‑pressured days, especially during peak periods

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit for long walking, climbing stairs/hills, and lifting/carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable, self‑motivated, strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment

• Comfortable working outdoors and independently

• As a Postie, you are responsible for securing all items on your route, including handling and delivering election materials and certain items such as food products or alcohol in line with Royal Mail business standards.
