Sr Mobile Diesel & Trailer Technician
Bonus: $5000 New Hire Bonus (50% after 30 days and 50% after 180 days)
Schedule: Wednesday – Saturday, 4 pm – 2 am
Fleet Services – A Cox Automotive Company. We keep your fleet moving with mobile, on‑site maintenance and repair services for light, medium, and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers across the country.
Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on trailer equipment and systems, including aluminum and chem‑lite, brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, liftgates, and brake chambers.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, such as electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair trailer equipment (welding, fabrication, panel/body framework replacement) and truck equipment (electrical, cooling, AC, steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials).
- Use test instruments (handheld computers, pressure gauges) to inspect, test, and diagnose malfunctions.
- Road test vehicles to verify proper operation.
- Identify problems and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
- Independently manage parts inventory, equipment, and periodic reconciliation on the company‑issued service truck.
- Maintain and operate the service vehicle, performing safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
- Communicate effectively with clients to assess needs, resolve issues, and satisfy expectations.
- Prioritize concurrently assigned tasks and allocate time efficiently.
- Work with hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work per company standards—upload photos and details to Repair Orders (RO) on the proprietary TRAIT app via iOS device.
- Complete DOT forms and related documentation promptly.
- Manage own daily schedule with a high degree of independence.
- Maintain productivity within or close to standard repair times.
- Source parts from approved local and national vendors.
- Coordinate with management and support teams via email or phone for repair estimates and purchase orders.
- Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
- High School Diploma or GED with at least 3 years of related experience (alternatives: a higher degree/certification and 1 year of experience, or 5 years of experience).
- Minimum 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
- Own a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
- OEM training and certifications preferred.
- Complete all company‑required training programs.
- 21 years of age or older; valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
- Must pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical (or submit a valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining).
- ASE T8 (PMI) certification and ASE 608/609 certification required; preferred: ASE T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, A8, L1, L2.
- Safe driving record required.
- Apply new information to problem‑solving and decision‑making.
- Lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for extended periods; perform moderately heavy labor and repetitive tasks.
- Communicate information succinctly and engage in effective two‑way communication.
- Determine appropriate tools and equipment for tasks.
- Accurately judge distances between objects.
- Use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternatives and solutions.
- Weekly pay – every Friday.
