Engineering Program Manager – Automation & Controls
Remote based - supporting projects in GA, AL, FL - working to the nearest locality to your home
If you’ve built your career around PLC, SCADA/HMI and controls projects within water/wastewater, but you’re ready for something broader than being the person doing all the programming — this could be a very interesting next move.
We’re supporting an established and growing water infrastructure and automation business looking for an Engineering Program Manager / Technical Lead.
This isn't a traditional desk-based Program Manager position.
You'll be the technical lead behind multiple water and wastewater automation projects
, working across PLC, HMI/SCADA, electrical, instrumentation and field delivery.
You’ll work alongside Project Managers while taking ownership of the technical solution — helping ensure what has been designed, programmed, tested and commissioned actually delivers what the customer needs.
What will you get involved with?- Technical leadership of municipal water & wastewater automation projects
- PLC, SCADA/HMI, controls and electrical systems
- Reviewing drawings, P&IDs and technical documentation
- FAT, SAT, startup and commissioning activities
- Working directly with customers on technical decisions and challenges
- Coordinating engineers, programmers, field technicians, vendors and subcontractors
- Supporting estimating, proposals and front-end technical discussions
- Improving technical standards, QA/QC and project execution
You might currently be a:
- Senior / Lead Controls Engineer
- Principal Controls Engineer
- Automation Project Manager
- Controls Project Manager
- Technical Lead
- Controls / Automation Engineering Manager
The important part is that you've developed genuine controls and automation depth and understand how municipal water/wastewater projects are delivered in the real world.
Why consider it?There’s considerably more runway here than simply taking on a larger controls project.
You can broaden from hands-on engineering into technical leadership, project/program ownership, engineering management and customer-facing responsibilities
, while remaining close enough to the technology to use the expertise you've spent your career developing.
Longer term, that creates potential routes across engineering leadership, operations, project delivery and commercial/technical leadership as the organization continues to grow.
If you're an experienced water/wastewater controls professional around Georgia or the wider Southeast and feel you've reached the point where you should be influencing the whole technical solution rather than just one piece of it then this could be the right move for you.
