Underground Operator - Lithonia, GA

• * Operate excavators, backhoes, trenchers, and other heavy equipment for the installation and repair of underground utilities (e.g., gas lines, water pipes, fiber optics).
• * Read and interpret blueprints, locate utility lines, and understand project specifications to ensure accurate excavation.
• * Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment, including fluid checks, to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• * Monitor equipment performance and identify any mechanical issues, reporting them to supervisors.
• * Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and implementing traffic control measures.
• * Coordinate with ground crew and other team members to ensure smooth workflow and project completion.
• * Assist with manual labor as needed, including digging, lifting, and moving materials.
• * Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment.
• * Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and clients.

• * High school diploma or equivalent.
• * Proven experience (minimum 2 years) operating heavy equipment for underground utility construction.
• * Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record preferred.
• * Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and utility maps.
• * Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to excavation and utility installation.
• * Physical ability to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work in various weather conditions.
• * Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
• * Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• * OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.
