The Sales Route Supervisor is a salaried-exempt position and reports to the Distribution Manager or assigned Location Branch Manager. This role supervises the daily activities of delivery drivers and ensures DOT compliance and the efficiency of the department by actively engaging in the routing, standardization, and training of the drivers to aid in the distribution of all company products in a safe manner.
Qualificationsand
Experience:
- Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations, and accurately record data required.
- Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts, as required.
- Must be able to work independently and/or on a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to pass a D.O.T. Physical, background and Drug Screen, and clearinghouse.
- Minimum Age: 21, as per Federal D.O.T. regulations
- Strong analytical skills and a systematic approach to problem-solving are required.
- Must exhibit strong leadership skills and the ability to train, mentor, and develop team members.
- Must be able to work in hot and cold climates, both indoors and outdoors, and on refrigerated trucks
- Must have a working knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
- Might be asked to work different shifts 1 st 2 nd or 3 rd based on business needs. (closing supervisor)
- Might be asked to assist other locations within the business unit.
- Open to relocating or transferring to other locations as dictated by the operational requirements of the business.
- Class A or B commercial driver’s license with Air Brake endorsement required (must also possess a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with FMCSA Part 391.41 prior to operating a commercialmotor vehicle for Hiland Dairy Foods)
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Four years prior supervisory experience required.
- Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodology, highly preferred
Working Conditions:
Must be able to frequently stand, walk, climb, Bend, Twist, Push/Pull reach at, above and below shoulder.
The route supervisor will have to stack and unstack items weighing 50 to 60 pounds from a height of approximately six feet to the ground and back continually as well as drag stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds, throughout the shift. Lift/Carry/ Lower: 30-45 lbs 70% and 45-60 lbs 30 % continuous. Repetition Hand/Wrist:
Simple Grasping and Firm Grasping 70 % continuous.
Required to work in very hot (100°+) and very cool (less than 32°), and humid environments throughout the year. Exposed to noise and vibration 100%.
Required to run routes as required by business needs and work outside, regardless of the conditions.
