Job Description & How to Apply Below

A&I Autos has kept the north east of Scotland moving since 1985. Alongside our passenger transport fleet, we run a busy workshop and MOT testing station in Stonehaven, looking after our own buses and coaches as well as customer vehicles. We are flexible, ambitious and genuinely proud of the work we do, and we want everyone in our team to have a great place to work and to grow.

The

role

We are looking for a skilled mechanic to join our workshop. You will maintain and repair a varied fleet, our own vehicles and customers' vehicles, so no two days look quite the same. If you are an MOT tester, or would like to become one, we will put your skills to use in our testing station and fund your progression to testing level.

We know good mechanics are hard to come by, so we make it worth your while. We are very flexible and will adapt your hours and holidays around your life, not the other way around.

What you will be doing

  • Carrying out routine servicing and maintenance across a varied fleet of vehicles.
  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults and carrying out repairs.
  • Inspecting vehicles to identify worn or damaged parts before they become problems.
  • Using diagnostic equipment, power tools and hand tools effectively.
  • Keeping accurate service and repair records in our workshop system.
  • Carrying out MOT testing, or training towards it, if that interests you.
What we are looking for
  • Proven experience as a vehicle mechanic, with strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • A relevant qualification such as City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in vehicle maintenance, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Confident with power tools, hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • We will support the right person to develop.
  • Reliable, with great attention to detail, comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • A full UK driving licence is preferred. A PCV (category

    D) licence is a bonus but not required.
  • Must be residing in Scotland
What we offer
  • A competitive salary of £32,000 to £41,000 depending on experience, plus overtime.
  • Genuinely flexible working hours and holidays, arranged around you.
  • Funded training and a clear route to becoming an MOT tester.
  • Employee discount and free on-site parking.
  • Quality tools and a well-equipped, busy workshop.
  • Workwear and PPE provided.
  • A friendly, established local team and secure, year-round work with a business going strong since 1985.
