Zachry Nuclear Engineering, Inc. (ZNE) is currently seeking a Designer I, Electrical for a direct hire position located in our Stonington, CT or Charlotte, NC office.

Position Synopsis:
Under guidance from engineers or supervision, the successful candidate will assist in the planning, design, and development of electrical drawings for various projects. Responsibilities include research for project criteria, providing field support, and creating electrical drawings such as wiring diagrams, one-lines, and schematics.

Other responsibilities include:

• Preparation of bills of material
• Resolving client comments
• As-built drawing preparation
• Reviewing manufacturer’s and discipline drawings
• Communicating with engineers and other disciplines to resolve design issues

The candidate should be capable of producing complex engineering drawings in 2-D or 3-D, checking for accuracy, participating in field walk downs, and developing field sketches. Effective communication with project engineers and clients is essential.

• Minimum of an Associate’s degree in drafting, design, or engineering technology, or equivalent experience in electrical and controls systems design.
• At least 3 years of experience in engineering drafting and electrical design practices.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Micro Station, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead drafting personnel.
• Knowledge of structural steel types, materials, and mechanical design principles.
• Ability to pass security and drug screening, and maintain access to nuclear plants.
• Willingness to work overtime and travel to client sites.

• Experience with CADD techniques and knowledge of Micro Station (preferred) and/or AutoCAD.
• Recent experience with plant modifications or fieldwork in nuclear power plants.
• Additional certifications in electronics or electrical systems.
