Senior Nuclear Electrical Engineer

System One is seeking a Senior Nuclear Electrical Engineer in Charlotte, NC or Stonington, CT to perform a variety of engineering and design activities involving power plant upgrades and/or new power plant projects.   • 6‑month contract opportunity
  • Pay rate range: $86 - $89/hr salary will be commensurate with experience. Please note this is a salaried position so any overtime will be straight time overtime and not time and a half.

Position Synopsis
  • Perform a variety of engineering and design activities involving power plant upgrades and/or new power plant projects.
  • Extensive experience with power plant systems, components, and structures related to the engineering discipline.
  • Plan, organize, and prepare modifications; independently evaluate, select, and use standards, techniques, procedures and criteria for technical projects.
  • Familiar with codes and standards applicable to the nuclear power industry and possess a working knowledge of applicable NRC regulations.
  • Develop specifications and/or modification packages, define design scope, develop design criteria documents, identify and select equipment and instruments, and develop system functionality.
  • Manage budget, scope, schedule, and quality associated with the designated work assignment with minimal guidance and technical oversight.
  • Devise new approaches to technical problems with a broad knowledge of industry precedents.
  • Interface and coordinate with multiple design disciplines and customer representatives.
  • Work on project teams with other engineers to evaluate conditions and propose modifications to improve plant performance, safety, and reliability.
  • Review and check designs, drawings and data prepared by other engineers; manage project teams and provide mentoring oversight to entry‑level and junior engineers.
Requirements
  • BS (in applicable degree for discipline position) from an ABET accredited engineering program.
  • 20 years (minimum) of related experience. At least 10 of those years with nuclear commercial power plant experience and actual field experience on nuclear plant projects. Experience with operating plant procedures, processes, and nuclear plant licensing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Effective time management skills; may involve working on several projects concurrently.
  • Understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access.
  • Overtime work may be required at times.
  • Travel required to client sites with occasional periods of field/office work.
  • Ability to perform walk‑downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, including climbing ladders, accessing security‑controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas.
Certification(s) or License(s) Desired
  • Professional Engineering registration (PE) is desirable.
