- Experience in the design and/or operation of PWR and/or BWR plants, including primary and secondary systems. Past experience with feasibility studies, equipment reliability issues, system modifications and upgrades to improve safety and reliability desired. Demonstrated use of independent judgment in performing calculations, modifications and designs and able to present and justify modification packages to quality and safety reviews. Superior technical knowledge of mechanical discipline and ability to work on project teams with other engineers to evaluate conditions and develop design changes which will improve plant performance, safety and reliability.
Ability to interface and work with equipment vendors as needed. - Familiar with codes and standards applicable to the nuclear power industry as well as possess working knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations (including the NRC). Superior client skills and understanding of the roles of other disciplines, as well as ability to coordinate and interface with other disciplines is a must.
- Certain positions at Zachry Nuclear may involve access to information and technology subject to export controls under U.S. law. If applicable to the position, the capability of a candidate to comply with such laws will be taken into consideration by Zachry Nuclear in its hiring processes.
- Education Required (minimum): BS degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited Engineering program.
- Experience Required (minimum): 15 years (minimum) of experience with at least 8 of those years commercial nuclear power industry experience. Knowledge of the design and/or operation of PWR and/or BWR plants, including primary and secondary systems. Experience with performing calculations, feasibility studies, engineering evaluations, system modifications and/or upgrades to nuclear power plant systems to improve safety and reliability. Experience in reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data prepared by other engineers.
- Other Required Qualifications (minimum): All applicants required to possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills. Presentation to client review boards of developed design documents required. Proficiency in Mathcad, Microsoft Office software, (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required. Effective time management skills required as position may involve working on several projects concurrently. Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted commercial nuclear power plant access is required.
Successful candidate required to understand and comply with company policies, procedures and processes. Overtime work required. Travel to client sites required with periods of on-site field/office work. Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas required.
