Position: Human Resources Generalist (REQ 300)

APS is seeking an experienced full‑time Human Resources Generalist to support its Human Resources programs, policies, and procedures in a legally compliant manner while addressing the unique strategic needs of a company that delivers agile advanced technology solutions for emerging challenges in national security and commercial markets. This position is based in the Administrative offices in Pawcatuck, CT.

Job Functions and Responsibilities
  • Partner with key stakeholders to translate business objectives into high-impact, data-driven people strategies that drive innovation, speed, and organizational effectiveness. Support change management, workforce planning, and organizational development for long-term success.
  • Oversee, manage, and guide leaders through the full talent management cycle, including performance reviews, employee development, performance management, promotions, and talent planning.
  • Provide expert coaching and counsel to leaders on complex employee relations matters, performance management, conflict resolution, and leadership development.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand current and future staffing needs, participate in recruitment efforts, conduct interviews, and assess candidate qualifications. Manage onboarding processes to ensure new employees have an exceptional experience and are set up for short-term and long-term success.
  • Actively foster company values, cultivating inclusion through intentional leadership and mechanisms that support a strong sense of belonging.
  • Utilize an empathetic approach to understand employee concerns, answer questions, and help employees navigate available resources. Conduct thorough and timely investigations into employee complaints and disciplinary matters, providing recommendations for resolution and partnering with stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the development of HR policies and procedures that ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and audit processes (e.g., AA/EEO, I-9 audits, FMLA, ADA, wage and labor laws). Uphold the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of human resource records.
  • Participate in the oversight and administration of compensation programs, employee benefits, and payroll processes.
  • Support implementation of HR information systems or modify current systems/processes to streamline workflow and drive improvement.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned to support the team and business.
Required Skills and Attributes
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in related fields.
  • 5+ years of relevant HR experience, preferably in science, technology, or project-based environments.
  • Ability to act with, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to influence change and promote an inclusive environment.
  • Data‑driven approach with strong analytics and the ability to create the right people metrics and implement solutions to drive positive change.
  • Adaptable, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously during times of change.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; high-quality document preparation, data visualization, and facilitation skills.
  • Proficient in working with Microsoft Office tools.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
  • Experience in people leadership and/or project management.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CHRP, or similar certification.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, pivot tables, charts, dashboards).
