Part-Time Ceramics Faculty

The Stony Brook School seeks a talented, mission-aligned part-time faculty member to join our Visual Arts Department. This role will focus on our ceramics program, teaching one section of Ceramics I and two sections of Ceramics II during the upcoming spring semester. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ceramics, including experience with wheel-thrown work.

Founded in 1922, The Stony Brook School is a co‑ed Christian college‑prep boarding and day school for grades 7‑12 on a 55‑acre campus on Long Island's North Shore. We unite academic rigor with authentic Christian faith in a diverse, global community.

All candidates should have a demonstrable Christian commitment and an educational philosophy that is consistent with The Stony Brook School's mission.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor's of Art or Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Visual Arts, Arts Education, or a related field (master's degree strongly preferred)
• Demonstrated growth mindset and eagerness to develop as a teacher, mentor, and colleague
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Eagerness to serve in a faith‑based learning environment that emphasizes faithful Christian scholarship and character formation
• Proficiency with technology and a desire to incorporate technology into the classroom
• Experience with ceramics, including wheel‑throwing and hand‑building techniques, along with familiarity in studio processes such as glazing, kiln loading/firing, and safe, effective ceramics classroom management
• Desire to contribute to various aspects of school life (advisor, dorm parent, coach, club sponsor)

Salary Range: $3,000 - $4,000 per class, commensurate to experience.
