Housekeeper - Full Time Night Shift (2305008)

At Stony Brook Medicine, our Housekeepers perform a variety of custodial and housekeeping tasks including requisitioning linens and supplies, cleaning, care, and upkeep of assigned buildings or areas such as patient rooms, administrative spaces, study areas, classrooms, meeting rooms, and laboratories. Candidates should demonstrate strong intrapersonal and time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.

• Picks up and removes hazardous articles from floors, furniture, and equipment and places them in designated receptacles or appropriate locations.
• Washes floors, corridors, stairwells, walls, partitions, and windows using mops, brushes, and other cleaning implements.
• Vacuuming, waxing floors, and shampooing carpets using manual and/or mechanical equipment.
• Scrubs and cleans lavatories using appropriate detergents and equipment.
• Washes light fixtures and replaces light bulbs using ladders or other equipment as needed.
• Polishes wood and metal fixtures and equipment.
• Requisition s and dispenses linens, household supplies, and equipment; maintains appropriate inventories.
• Reports needs for building repairs and recommends repairs or replacement of furniture, fixtures, and equipment to a supervisor.
• Provides ongoing training on cleanliness, communication, and customer service skills.

This is a float position that may perform work throughout the facility.

Required: Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and communicate orally and in writing to exchange information.

Preferred: Previous experience in a hospital setting and/or hospital industry; excellent intrapersonal and time management skills; attention to detail and ability to work with all levels of the organization.

Before start date, the selected candidate must meet requirements including: pre-employment physical examination and medical clearance, electronic references, a 4-panel drug screen, regulatory pre-employment screenings, and submission of any required New York State licenses/certifications. Failure to comply may delay start date or revoke the offer. The hiring department will cover any fee for the examination.

Anticipated Pay Range: The starting salary range is $36,040. Full-time positions may include additional compensation for location and shift. Total compensation includes leave, health plans, and state pension benefits.
